Child identity theft has become a growing problem in recent years. This type of fraud is increasingly difficult to fix as it is often discovered many years later when the damage is quite extensive, sometimes not until the child is 18.
One of our Privacy Advocates recently handled a situation in which a subscriber was going through her 13 year old daughter’s online account when she noticed that there was an application for an auto loan. The remediation specialist was able to determine there was an open account using the child’s information and was able to get the loan removed from the child’s credit file and help the mother take some additional precautionary measures.
InfoArmor now has special guidelines in place to alert parents of activity on a minors account. Without the use of InfoArmor’s service the child could have had a much bigger problem down the road.
